Training Christian Students - a thorough yet easy way

Hi. Thought I better put something up here about the course I was

involved in writing with several others last year. It's Scripture Union's

baby, and even though it's only just road-testing now, it's a really

impressive programme. Sounds like I'm talkin'myself up a bit?
I am a little, but even moreso I'm talking up the team that put it together

(wealth of experience) and Bruce Boyle from S.U. who made the project

happen.

The course runs over a long time-span, but at a very manageable load

for High School Students: 7 consecutive school terms, but only 3 sessions

per term. That translates into 21 x 2 hour sessions with a Course Leaders-Coach

type - a total of 42 hours of face to face training.

I reckon this course has some things to offer that others I've seen so far have not:

* Programmed way to give your most mature leaders something beyond ad-hoc training

* Theologically Strong (foundations section) without being too cerebral for 15-16 year olds

* Wide range of practical fields from a leader's job description [SEE ATTACHED OUTLINE]

* Interactive style for training - uses games, roleplays, teaching tools that work on kids

* Is EASILY ADAPTIVE to any leading context in youth ministry.

[In fact, I think the best use of this course would be for training ISCF student leaders, but
alongside local church leaders from their own home churches... to double up the benefits

of the fruit kids develop: into ISCF group health AND multiplying ministry to peers in
their own youth group ministry environment.]

Anyway, for details, you contact Bruce Boyle at Scripture Union (See the web link on

front page of this Blog.)
