Hi there...
Some days the news in the paper actually IS good... today is one of those days, in my book. The Prime Minister seems to be responding to positive response of schools in applying for funding for a Chaplain (and probably to the challenges of a certain major election coming up...) He has announced an injection of $25 million into THIS YEAR'S offering of NSCP grants.
Why good news? Because MORE of the schools who applied first round (like mine) will be successful. His comments in the following article makes it clear that a MAJORITY of applicants are going to be successful.
[Out of 1,503 applicant schools 1,392 will now be funded. That's 93% ]
This extra $25 million is to make the higher number possible... This is good news.
Regardless of the (inevitable) political maneouvering that goes behind national programmes
like this one - more students will be given service, support, care and the gospel truth of life
by paying chaplains to be there.
